We make satellite-based data available to everyone

Presenting new business opportunities at Web Summit 2024.

More and more accurate and more up-to-date satellite data is coming available every day. Completely new kind of satellite data enables us to see things hidden to the human eye. Tasked satellite imaginary shows how any place on earth looked a few hours ago.

However, satellite data is still not that widely utilized, especially poorly in the solutions for the mass market. Satellite monitoring can dramatically improve risk management, once the raw data is processed from pixels and bands to meaningful information.

Map-based application

In Web Summit 2024 we introduce WoodsApp, the map centric mobile app, that is already out in Germany and Austria. Via WoodsApp we make satellite-based information about forest damages and risks available for landowners and forest professionals.

An additional challenge for managing climate risks in forestry, is caused by scattered land ownership. In the EU only, there are 16 million private landowners. Many of which are urban landowners, having less knowledge about their forests and how to manage them. Without a digital solution like WoodsApp, it is really hard to reach these people, keep them up-to-date and to connect with relevant service providers.

By using WoodsApp and the satellite-based forest vitality data it provides, everyone can now check forest health in his or her forest or community.

Moreover, our platform can be used to gather location-based data in collaboration with mobile users in a crowdsourcing-approach. Any organisation who needs to collect information in the field can use our solutions to efficiently gather geo-data with large number of users in the field.

Crowdsourcing data can then be used together with satellite monitoring data in decision making and even extend learning data for improving the AI models.

Satellite technologies serving the environment

We believe that satellite monitoring together with mobile distribution and communication channels, can reduce resource waste, financial loss, and unnecessary carbon emissions in many business areas and thus boost sustainable business development.

Especially, when satellite data is combined with other datasets, such as property boundaries. Thanks to EU regulation 2023/138 we now have access to such spatial datasets available for whole Europe. Together with satellite data these open datasets generate a lot of value, when made easily available.
